James P. Reber
Successful Fundraising & Producing for over 30 Years
Nonprofit Management Consultant
Marketing, Publicity & Promotion
James P. Reber began hs career over three decades ago by doing publicity for the fledgling Berkeley Shakespeare Festival (now California Shakespeare Festival in Orinda, California). He learned how to use a non-existent budget to generate attention from critics and reporters in the Bay Area media. Later, as the first full-time employee of the Festival, he learned marketing and promotion on the job, enough so that his first subscription mailing got generated an incredible 10% response rate.
In founding San Jose Repertory Theatre, Mr. Reber became even more astute at generating community interested, subscription sales, and publicity for his company. He brought in Subscription Expert Danny Newman, who became his personal mentor in marketing and sales for the performing arts. Mr. Reber has worked as a consultant for a number of local and regional theatres in the SF Bay Area, passing on this knowledge of how to acquire a strong subscriber base.
Mr. Reber provides a full array of advice and consulting arrangements in Marketing, Publicity, & Promotion. While this is primarily the purview of nonprofit performing arts organizations, it is also often quite applicable to other nonprofit organizations. Mr. Reber is certainly one of the truly knowledgeable and most experienced marketing leaders in Silicon Valley.
